Quartzite is the answer when someone wants natural stone with marble-like movement but is not prepared to baby it. It forms from sandstone under heat and pressure, and the result is harder than most other natural stone on the market, resisting scratches, heat and stains far better than marble does.
Mercury Gray runs cooler than the Calacatta looks, with fine grey veining over a mid-grey base. Every slab is different, so this is a stone worth coming to see in person rather than choosing from a sample chip.
